Using the medium of comics to teach fly-fishing, the Curtis Creek Manifesto also happens to be an example of great information design. I've always been disappointed by the Introducing series of books (some of which are still published under the For Beginners name in the U.S.), in which the artwork always seems to be an afterthought rather than an integrated part of the work. Compare this page from Darwin For Beginners (sorry about the popup) to this one from the Curtis Creek Manifesto -- it's pretty clear which one is using the medium to best effect.
