Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life

Big, loud and dumb. Emulates most of the worst qualities of latter-day James Bond (fortunately, the cheesy entendres are omitted). Jolie does a fine job with what she's given, but I found Lara Croft to be too one-note-action-hero -- any unique style she has comes from Jolie, not the writers. The action sequences are fine, but everything else is fairly implausible (even by action-fantasy standards). The filmmakers are taking the material either slightly too seriously or not seriously enough: the only thing worse than nonsense is nonsense that doesn't know it's nonsense.
