I think it's been about ten years since I've seen fractal animations. It seems the state of the art has advanced a bit in the interim.
I knew I liked Tom Coates's Guardian piece on weblog culture, but I couldn't put my finger on it until Rebecca reminded me that it says what I've been saying (around the house, to no one in particular) all along.

Sasha Frere-Jones is the sort of musical omniphile that makes my own tastes (ranging all the way from indie rock to indie pop-rock) seem narrow and small.

I don't quite get the hype about this record. It sounds like Death Cab with a drum machine to me. Not a bad thing, mind you, but not exactly newsworthy. Since it seems likely that there'll be another one, though, I'll say this: more Jenny Lewis next time, please.
